This month coincide with the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. legacy. No doubt, we Muslims, like other minorities are beneficiaries of the long struggle of our African American brothers and sisters in America. However, I see the struggle was carried by two great leader; King and Malik Shabazz or Malcom X. For many reasons, Hajj Malik, while he is known to the Muslim community, he was kept in the dark when it comes to the general American public. Thus, the struggle is still on to achieve equal rights and equal opportunities for all.
We believe in the principles and values of the “Civil Rights Movement” and we encourage all people to actively participate in the democratic process of the country, local, state and national elections and in advocating for the right of all people including the immigrants and less fortunate in our society.
